Volunteer

Can you support UPHS by volunteering? UPHS is run by a group of dedicated volunteers. We always have interesting projects under way, and we need your help. We do our best to match people with skills and time to share and with meaningful projects that they will enjoy. The more people who participate, the more we can do! Benefits of volunteering include meeting new people, learning about our fascinating Ute Pass history, and greater involvement in your community.

If you would like to help, please contact us at uphs@utepasshistoricalsociety.org or (719) 686-7512, so we can discuss how you can participate. Training is provided. Some areas where we can especially use your help are:

Fundraising: We need volunteers to help us plan and to participate in fundraising events throughout the year.

Gift Shop: Sell books and gifts at our gift shop, and help us take our gift shop into the community at special events like the Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration in Woodland Park and Bronc Days in Green Mountain Falls.

History Research: Research and reply to questions about local history from our members and the general public.

Newsletter Reporter: Write articles on current UHPS happenings and local history for the UPHS newsletter.

Patronage Committee: Communicate with renewing members and recruit new members to encourage financial and volunteer support of UPHS.

Promotions: Contact local media to make the public aware of services and events offered by UPHS.

Office Support: Meet and greet the public at our office during business hours.

Food Preparation: At least three times a year we host special events or fundraisers where we serve food. We appreciate our volunteers who generously cook and serve their delicious dishes.

Collections Care: Work with our curator, registrar, or photo librarian to take care of our collection of historic objects, our archives, and our historic photographs.

Docents/Tours: Share our local history with guests in our museum or with visiting school groups.
