The Ute Pass Historical Society welcomes researchers. We have a large collection of photographs, newspapers, books, and other documents that are available to the public. You may partner with one of our volunteers to do your own research, or we may be able to find an answer to your history question for you.
Photographs
The Ute Pass Historical Society has a wonderful collection of thousands of photographs. These include images of people, buildings, and landscapes from local families and photographers found only in our archives. We also have copies of images from other collections. Reproductions of images we have publication rights for may be purchased for private or commercial display. We can also provide historical photographs for publication in books or periodicals. Our volunteers welcome the opportunity to assist you with your project.
For current information on pricing and reproduction policies for photo images in our Archives, please contact our Photo Librarian by calling (719)686-7512, or email us at

Books, Newspapers, Obituaries, and Oral Histories
Our library of Colorado and Western American history books is available to the public in the UPHS Museum Center. Many more titles are available in the Colorado Room of the Woodland Park Library. Our book collection includes titles about early railroading in Colorado, including books on the Colorado Midland Railway and the Colorado Midland Terminal Railway. Our archives include newspapers published in the area, especially the Ute Pass Echo. In addition, we have a collection of oral histories and obituaries of local residents. All of these materials are available for review by appointment. Contact our Office at (719)686-7512 or

Research Requests
The Ute Pass Historical Society's Research Office is a resource for our patrons and the public alike. We invite interested history buffs and researchers to assist as volunteers in compiling, organizing, and updating our archives. We review new submissions of materials to add to our archives on an ongoing basis.
Donations
To offset expenses and fund our efforts to preserve our local heritage, we appreciate donations from researchers. You are welcome to make copies, but we ask for a small donation to pay for the cost of the copies. We are grateful if reasearchers share a copy of their final draft of organized research material with UPHS. This helps us to add to the body of information in our archives. Use and participation in the preservation of local documents and area historic periodicals keeps our archival preservation efforts current and effective. We thank you in advance for your assistance in expanding the information available on our local history and heritage.
