VOLUNTEERING:

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Can you support the Ute Pass Historical Society by volunteering? Our goal is to preserve our local history and educate people abut it. Benefits of volunteering include meeting new people, learning about Ute Pass history, and getting involved in your community. Board of Directors: These volunteers attend monthly meetings and make decisions about the future of UPHS. Many also serve as committee chairpersons.

Archiving: We need help updating and maintaining records on all of the wonderful artifacts, books, documents, and photos in our collections.

Newsletter Reporter: Write articles on current UHPS happenings and local history for the UPHS newsletter.

Patronage Committee: Communicate with renewing patrons and recruit new patrons to encourage financial and volunteer support of UPHS.

Programs & Promotions: Host educational programs. Contact local media to make the public aware of services and events offered by UPHS.

Gift Shop: Sell books and gifts at the UPHS Gift Shop.

Photographs: We need help with sales of our historic photos and with displaying our travelling photo exhibit at local businesses.

Museum Docent: Share our local history with museum guests. Work on museum exhibits.

Fundraising & Grant Writing: Help support UPHS by coordinating fundraising events, and researching & writing federal, state, and private grants.

Office Support: Assist the office clerk with administrative tasks such as responding to public inquiries, correspondence, filing, bulk mailing, and newsletters.

 Tech Support: We need help maintaining our computer systems and website.

Oral Histories: We have a collection of oral histories that need to be transcribed and re-recorded from cassette tapes onto CD’s. There are also people waiting to share their memories with us waiting to be interviewed.

Responding to History Inquiries: Research and reply to questions about local history from members and the general public.
