About the Gift Shop

The Ute Pass Historical Society's retail store, the "Old Curiosity Gift Shop" is named after an 1889 photography and gift shop located in Cascade.   It was situated  near the old Ute Indian Trail and Colorado Midland Railroad.   We have a photograph of it in our Archives: ask to see it upon your next visit.

These days our Ute Pass Historical Society’s Old Curiosity Shop carries a select line of books, videos, audio tapes, maps and gift items relating to the history of the Ute Pass,  Pikes Peak area, and the Rocky Mountain West.   We serve diverse interests, and our Volunteer Staff is friendly  as well as knowledgeable of our titles and gift items.

The UPHS Old Curiosity Shop is located in the Ute Pass Cultural Center at 210 East Midland Avenue, on the corner of Midland Avenue and Fairview Street, in Woodland Park, CO.  That  building is visible from Hwy 24, and sits  on the north corner of the Fairview St. traffic light.

We invite you to explore our Pikes Peak Museum within our Gift Shop on your next visit to the Pikes Peak area.   Local residents know to look for our open Gift Shop doorway during most public Ute Pass Cultural Center events.

Phone (719) 686-7512 or email us at  uphs@qwest.net for our current Gift Shop schedule.

We have many books relating to the life and times of the Old West, Colorado, railroads, scenic areas and hiking.

The recently released book "Wellsprings" is based on the Gazette (Colorado Springs) newspaper 26 week series on the history of the Pikes Peak area.  This book is selling briskly, and like so many of our titles is an excellent source of introductory and background information on the history of the families and communities of the Pikes Peak region and Ute Pass.
