    Organization…

Ute Pass Historical Society (UPHS) is a registered non-profit
501 (c) 3 corporation, founded in 1976.   UPHS was founded by dedicated, concerned members of Ute Pass communities, determined to honor and preserve their families’ pioneering history, the history of the development of Ute Pass communities, and respect the Native American heritage of the region.

The UPHS Board of Directors is elected, and its Volunteers are recruited: their ongoing goal is to preserve and share the history of local communities and families for present and future residents of the Ute Pass area of Colorado.

UPHS operates the Old Curiosity Gift Shop, a Research Office, and the Pikes Peak Museum, including Centennial Trailhead and Ute Pass History Park.  All are located in Woodland Park, CO.   We thank the City of Woodland Park for the ongoing opportunity it provides to work together, sharing our heritage with the greater Ute Pass community and its visitors, through displays, programs and facilities.

Additionally, other public displays of UPHS exhibits are on loan around the Pikes Peak Region.  These include our Native American objects display at the Colorado Resource Room, on the third floor of the Woodland Park Library of the Rampart Library District.  We thank the Directors of Rampart Library District for working with UPHS to create this ongoing opportunity to share our heritage through this unique and edifying display.

Contact our Research Office at (719) 876-7512, or email us at uphs@qwest.net  for information on UPHS hours, tours, and events.

     …UPHS Mission

The mission of the Ute Pass Historical Society (UPHS) is to preserve and protect the region's historical heritage.  To accomplish this mission the Society will collect historical artifacts, provide programs of historical relevance, operate an area resource center or museum, and any other activity that will support and enhance historical preservation and education.

     …Board of Directors

The UPHS Board of Directors meets on the second Monday of each month.  Most meetings are scheduled to be held at the Ute Pass Cultural Center, located at 210 E. Midland Avenue, on the corner of E. Midland Avenue and Fairview Street in the City of Woodland Park, CO.   Society members and their guests are welcome at these meetings.   Please contact our Office (719.686.7512) the week prior to the Board meeting, to confirm details of the location, meeting times and agenda of the monthly UPHS Board of Directors’ meeting.
